Information Regarding the "Test to Stay" COVID-19 Testing Option

Mayfield Independent School District has entered into an agreement with Pearl Diagnostic Laboratory to offer a voluntary “Test and Stay” program for students and staff that have been exposed to COVID-19.  This program is considered a “layered” approach that will be implemented along with the district’s recommended social distancing and universal masking policies, which are currently recommended by the CDC and Graves County Health Department.

Starting on Monday, September 27, this program will allow students and staff members who are recommended to quarantine due to exposure to have the option to take a rapid antigen COVID-19 test each morning to potentially eliminate the need to quarantine.  Students and staff members that test negative each day will be able to stay at school or work. Students and staff members that test positive will be given instructions for next steps. These steps will include going home and contacting their healthcare provider. Individuals that choose to participate in this program will be tested every day for seven days from the date of exposure.

The testing site will be located at Mayfield High School. Participants will enter through the gym doors closest to the softball field. Hours of operation will be from 6:30 a.m. until 8:30 a.m., Monday through Friday. There will be no testing on Saturday or Sunday. This program is only available for district students and employees. There is no cost for the testing. A parent/guardian will be responsible for bringing their child to the testing site and staying with the student until their test results are received. If the test is negative, the student will then need to be transported to the appropriate school for the day.

Quarantined students or staff will still have the option to quarantine at home for 10 days from the date of exposure, or to quarantine for seven days if there’s a negative PCR COVID-19 test result received on or after the 5th day of exposure, so long as the individual does not have any symptoms.
