Gossett named National Merit Scholar Finalist

Mayfield High School senior Kyle Gossett has been named a finalist  in the prestigious National Merit Scholarship program.

According to a press release from the National Merit Scholarship Program, academically talented high school students have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,140 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $28 million.

Over 1.3 million juniors entered the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2022 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. The nationwide pool of semi-finalists and finalists, representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, includes the highest-scoring entrants from each state.

To become a finalist, Kyle and school officials had to submit a detailed scholarship application, in which they provide information about his academic record, participation in school and community activities, demonstrated leadership abilities, employment, and honors and awards received.

Mayfield Independent Schools joins Mayfield High School in recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of Kyle Gossett, National Merit Scholar Finalist.
