STLP (Student Technology Leadership Program)

STLP News
Students from Mayfield Independent School District recently traveled to Lexington KY to compete at the state level STLP championship.  These students advanced to state after successfully competing in the regional competition through Murray State University in November 2021.

The STLP event in Lexington hosted about 14,000 individuals this year.  It was the largest turnout on record.  There were over 350 other school district teams competing at this year's event, along with our own, in the "Projects" category.

Lexi Cox and Ava Matthews represented Mayfield Middle School with a project entitled "Cardinals SOAR".  Their project utilized several different tools to create a form where new students could ask questions and express needs. This form is then used by the guidance counselor to pair new students up with peers at school that can help them as needed, to make the transition to a new school a little easier.  They received an award for being "Best in Level" for their group.

Lilly Cox and Lexi Ferguson represented Mayfield Middle School with a project entitled "Triple T Tribe".  Their project used Google Forms to allow students to request assistance with technology related needs and repairs.  Students were asked to complete the forms if they needed assistance with Google Classroom, Infinite Campus or other related tasks and then the students from the "Triple T Tribe" work to make sure their peers get the assistance they need. This group came in as the state runner up in the middle school division!

Joseph Canter, Kirsten Yancy, Kyle Gossett and MattiClaire Wheeler represented Mayfield High School.  Their project was entitled "Show Me the Money".  Their project was designed to research the district's financial investment in technology and to help district leadership better understand what students, parents, teachers and administrators thought was going well with the investment, as well as where improvements could be made. They received an award for being "Best in Level" for their group.

Eliot Acree, a 5th grade student at MMS,  was also recognized for being a state semi-finalist in the Minecraft competition.

We want to congratulate all these students on a job well done!
